COVID-19 Prevention: Vaccination Programme Underway in Regions and States

Ministry of Health has been conducting the COVID-19 vaccination programme in regions and states for the disease prevention and control.

On the 4th of November, 1,060 persons in Kyaukme and Hsipaw townships of northern Shan State, 21 members of the Sangha in Holang Township of southern Shan State, 2,785 persons in 4 townships of eastern Shan State, 1,180 in 4 townships of Mon and Kayin states, 1,749 in 3 townships of Tanintharyi Region, 1,650 in 2 townships of Yangon Region, 28,521 in 26 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region, 7,380 in 5 townships of Rakhine State, 130 in Sagaing Region and 9,540 in Mandalay Region received the COVID-19 vaccines.

The programme also includes basic education students. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention.
