



The United Nations biodiversity conference opened in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming on Monday.Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng stressed his country was taking biodiversity protection very seriously, adding it was seeking an "ecology-first path to green development."
The U.N. environment chief described progress as "inadequate" and more action had to be taken to reverse biodiversity loss and to embark on a path of recovery by 2030.The conference comes ahead of the key U.N. climate summit, COP26, which will be held in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12.
