Cement factories: Meeting to improve domestic cement production held

There were cement factories on in Thayet, Kyan Gin and Hpa-An Townships till year 2000 in Myanmar.
But, now, there have been 19 domestic cement factories and those manufacture 7 to 9 million tons of cement a year as well as about one million ton of it has to be imported from abroad, said, the Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than at the work coordination meeting on improvement of domestic cement production held via Virtual System in the morning on Wednesday.

The Union Minister also urged to manufacture cement which is essential for the construction works keeping full quality standards with least energy consumption as well as slightest impact on the environment and socio-economic interests.

The frank discussions are invited if there are obstacles to reoperate the domestic cement factories with full capacity.

Then, the participants cordially discussed the specifications of quality standards in each factory, market share for operating with full capacity, matter on energy and fuel, arrangements made to avoid impacts on environment and socio-economic interests and the union minister gave a concluding speech.
