
The meeting on the clarification of Early Childhood Intervention-ECI Project was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Nay Pyi Taw via video communications on Tuesday.
At the meeting, the Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khaing said the drafting of Early Childhood Intervention-ECI Project -- which was suspended due to the COVID-19 -- is resumed.
For the early development of children, not only must there be cognitive development but well norishment is also required. There are some children with normal growth and some with developmental delay. Early examining and rehabilitation should be carried out timely. Children have the rapid growth from the first 1000 days to 3 years of age.
Although the policy for Early Child Care and Development has been formulated, it’s best to detect signs of delay as early as possible so that the Early Childhood Intervention can reduce the disability.
ECI service is an investment for children development. The participants from the regions and states need to discuss the implementation on the ground. Next, deputy director Dr. Nan Oo from ECCD Resource Center clarified the early childhool development examination and rehabilitation work project and the head officers who are currently carrying out the ECI service in the regions and states reported work implementations and challenges they were facing.
