Drive through jab centre set up in Kempton Park

A vaccination drive through has been set up in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg, to fast-track South Africa's second phase vaccination programme.

primary health care worker, Sithiba Matheza said "We wanted to do something very different here at Ekurhuleni Health District where people will feel very comfortable. We know that with COVID-19 people are afraid to go to facilities because in a facility we mix with everyone, so here we are saying feel free, feel safe in your car, just drive through and get vaccinated."

Gauteng Province has increased the number of vaccination sites from 28 to 63 in the province. This is to ensure that more people over the age of 60 receive the Pfizer vaccine. While some were happy to finally get their shots, others were frustrated by the delays caused by technical glitches.
