After three months of delay, Argentina received the first batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine for a total of 22.4 million doses signed with the laboratory on Monday. As the production has experienced delays, the vaccination campaign is slower than expected by the Argentine government.

Authorities said Argentina expects 3.9 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine during the following weeks, which will help to accelerate immunization. Only 2.4 million had received the necessary doses for immunization. The vaccines arrived at the Ezeiza international airport, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, on a LATAM Cargo flight from Miami, United States. Another flight on Monday carried Sputnik V vaccines. Argentina has so far recorded 3.5 million infected and close to 75,000 deaths from COVID-19.
