The Section 144 of Criminal Procedure has been imposed in some townships of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Regions and States on 8 and 9 February.

The areas for Section 144 have covered Pyinmana, Leway, Tatkone, Zayyarthiri, Dikhinathiri, Pubbathiri, Ottarathiri and Zabuthiri Townships in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, 44 townships (except Cocokyun Township) in Yangon Region, Chanmyatharzi, Pyigyitagun, MahaAungMyay, ChanAyeTharZan, AungMyayTharZan, Patheingyi, MyinGyan and Amarapura Townships in Mandalay Region, Magwe and Pakhokku Townships in Magwe Region, Sagaing, Shwebo, Monywa and Kalay Townships in Sagaing Region, Waimaw, Bamaw, Moe Gaung, Shweku, MoeNyin and Hpa-Kant Townships in Kachin State, Loikaw Township in Kayah State, Mawlamyaing, Thanbyuzayat, Yay and KyaikHto Townships of Mon State, Kengtung, Taunggyi, Tarchileik, NaungCho, Lashio, Kalaw, Thipaw, Muse and KyaukMe Townships in Shan State, Kyar In Seikkyi, Myawady and Hpa-An Townships in Kayin State.

Under this section, it is prohibited unlawful assembly, talks, using vehicles or in persons in marching around, protests, destroying and violent acts.

The assembly of five or more than five persons is banned at the public areas and the curfew is also imposed from 8 pm to 4 am in the above-mentioned townships.
