Meeting with Bankers: C-in-C Meets with Patron, Chairmen and Vice Chairmen

Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Thursday met with Patron, Chairman and many other officials from Myanmar Banks Association and chairmen, vice chairmen and many other officials from private banks.

In the meeting at the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw, the Senior General stressed that economy drives the development of a nation and the important role of banking. He called for cooperation on efforts for the fall in commodity prices, job opportunity creation, systematic regular banking services in line with COVID-19 guidelines and betterment of electronic banking.

He also said that there’re no policy changes for political and economic sectors as well as for peace and international relations. Attendees discussed matters including reform of financial, investment and trade policies, fall in interest rates, use of foreign currency in border trade, digital payment, successful implementation of microfinance loan provision and insurance and also tax cuts for construction and real estate sectors.

Union Minister U Win Shein and Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar U Than Nyein stressed assistance to help COVID-19-hit businesses and cooperation among theCentral Bank of Myanmar, Myanmar Banks Association and private banks.

The Senior General stressed the importance of monetary policy and pledged to provide assistance and to revive the economy.
