Jonathan Daval, whose wife Alexia went missing in 2017, has been convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison for her murder. His lawyer said he would not appeal the jury's decision. Alexia Daval went missing in 2017, with her burned body found later in the woods near her home in eastern France.

At the time, her husband reported her missing and claimed she never returned from a run. He eventually confessed to beating her, then burning her body. French media reported investigators said they thought the death may had been the result of a "marital argument gone wrong."
