Bus Transportation: Card Payment System On Ybs Buses To Be Available Soon

Card Payment System on YBS buses will be available soon, said U Hla Aung, the joint secretary of the Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) at the regular press conference in Yangon, Wednesday.

To improve the transportation service in Yangon, Yangon Region Transport authority has installed the card payment machines on 1500 buses for two months ago. Now, the testing works are underway in cooperation with public –private sectors to operate soon. 

The joint secretary of the Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) also stressed that the shipping service between Yangon and Coco Kyun Township was launched to provide transportation of the people in Coco Kyun Township and regional development tasks with the arrangement of Yangon Region Government and it is planning to ply the ferry once per month. It is also planning to operate more bus lines near railway station. YRTA also issued the professional licensees to over 1,500 drivers to assure the safety of the public transportation

According to the data from 3/2020 meeting, Yangon Region Transport Authority took actions in 989 cases and received about 139 complaints through YRTA Complain Center in January.

For the time being, over 100 bus lines are operating with over 4,400 buses on about 135 routes including the Airport Shuttle. The number of daily commuters has been estimated at 1.8 million, it’s learnt.
