Vehicle Sale Program: Ministry Of Commerce Clarifies Work Procedures

A clarification on vehicle sale program in installment to public service personnel and government staffs was held at the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw, Thursday.

On the occasion, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce U Aung Soe said that the public service personnel and government staffs will be allowed to buy vehicles in accord with their ranks.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Aung Soe said “For the first stage, it will allow to senior officials such as director generals and superiors, followed by deputy director generals and officials with a minimum of 25 years of experience who have been given a ‘Good Civil Service Award’. We will also arrange for them to be able to buy vehicles with affordable price and in installment.”

The Permanent Secretary added that the program aims for the government staffs to be able to take new vehicles because of the currently used vehicles are old and to buy vehicles in accord with their ranks after taking pension. He also said that the government will recommend car showrooms and sale centers registered at the Ministry of Commerce and the buyers can connect with their respective banks to take loan in installment.

He also explained that the permission for import vehicles to the government staffs will not seriously impact to the car sales market because they will permit import of vehicles step by step and the numbers will be limited.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Aung Soe said “We will import vehicles by step by step. The numbers are not too much. So, it will not impact seriously on the car sales market. We will adopt plans depending on the car showrooms and sale centers registered at the Ministry. The process will support for commercial operation because the buyers will have to connect with car showrooms and sale centers in buying and the banks will give payment to them.”

The Ministry of Commerce announced that it will grant car importing permits to government officials and public service personnel on 2nd January.
