Historic Moment: President sworn in at Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Session

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with Vice Presidents Nyo Saw and Nan Ni Ni Aye, took their oaths of office during a session of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on Friday, in the presence of Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was elected as President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, securing a majority with 429 votes.

U Nyo Saw was elected as Vice President-1 with 126 votes, while Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye was elected as Vice President-2 with 29 votes. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was nominated for the presidency by representatives of the Pyithu Hluttaw. Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, representing Kayin State Constituency-1 (Proportional Representation System), was nominated by members of the Amyotha Hluttaw, while U Nyo Saw, from Cocokyun Constituency, was nominated by representatives of the Tatmadaw Personnel Hluttaw.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing becomes the 11th President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. During the session, the Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court of the Union, the Chairmen and members of the State Constitutional Tribunal, the Union Election Commission Chairman and members, and Union Ministers, the Union Attorney-General, Union Auditor General, Governor and Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Myanmar, and Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman and members,  also took their oaths of office.

Following the ceremony, President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing later delivered his first address to the nation, which was officially recorded during the session. After the Speaker clarified Pyidaungsu Hluttaw activities, including measures undertaken during the first regular session, the first session of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw concluded successfully.
