The making of a frozen ice maze in the heart of Washington

A frozen ice maze with seven foot high walls is coming to downtown Washington. On Thursday afternoon, a team of workers buffed, polished and sawed large blocks of ice to form what organizers say will be the largest maze made of clear ice in the United States. The installation uses approximately 300 blocks of crystal clear ice and weighs around 125,000 pounds.

It will be lit up with bright lights that will shine through the transparent blocks. The maze stands outside the City Center DC, a public space in the heart of the U.S. capital. It will be open to the public from December 13-15.
