Spanish firefighters rescue residents stranded by floods

Residents of southern Spanish town were stranded on Thursday, after torrential rains swept cars away and blocked roads. On Thursday afternoon, military emergency services teams arrived in the town and other affected areas. Firefighters rescued local residents and workers who were trapped on highways since midday. Schools in neighboring region suspended classes, expecting the heavy rains to continue. Local authorities recommended people stay in their homes in the worst-affected areas. Severe weather warnings have been issued for Friday for much of southeastern Spain.
