Leaders of the BRICS group of leading emerging economy nations touched down in Brasilia on Tuesday ahead of their summit. China's President Xi Jinping and South Africa's Cyril Ramaphosa flew into the Brasilian capital on Tuesday.

Presidents of the group of major emerging economies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - will meet in Brazil's capital on Wednesday and Thursday for what are widely expected to be low-key, technical discussions. One of the topics on the agenda is the expansion of the BRICS' New Development Bank (NDB) launched in 2014 by China, India, Russia, Brazil and South Africa.
