








World Food Day 2022 was held at the Convocation Hall of Yayzin Agricultural University in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday. Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win attended the ceremony and gave a speech.
The Vice Senior General said the government is carrying out for prosperity of the nation and food sufficiency as two national processes, and in doing so, accelerated efforts are being made for boosting agriculture production. In 2021-2022, 17.4 million acres of paddy have been cultivated and it yielded over 1.3 billion baskets.
Moreover, over 48 million acres of various beans and pulses, oil bearing crops and maize have been sown across the country which resulted increased production. He added that plans have been made for growing double cropping, and distribution of quality seeds with reasonable prize through cooperation among the department, cooperatives association and private companies.
The Vice Senior General stressed that a perfect and prosper community could be created with the collective efforts of all concerned persons for boosting production. This year’s theme for World Food Day is "Leave no one behind.
Better Production, Better Nutrition, a Better Environment and a Better Life". The outstanding award winners of the agriculture, livestock and forestry sectors in commemorat6ing the World Food Day were presented during the ceremony.
