World Consumer Rights Day : Chin State CM delivered the opening remarks

The ceremony to commemorate World Consumer Rights Day 2026 was held on March 10 at the meeting hall of the General Administration Department, located in the Chin State Government Office in Hakha. The event was attended by the Chin State Chief Minister, Dr. Wong Hsun Htan, who delivered an opening address.

Initially, Chief Minister Dr. Wong Hsun Htan delivered a speech stating that the international consumer organization designates an annual theme each year to highlight a sector requiring attention for consumers. This year's theme has been set as “Safe Products, Confident Consumers." He mentioned that as Myanmar is a member country of the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection, consumer protection activities are being carried out in connection with other relevant international organizations. He emphasized that governments, entrepreneurs, and consumer citizens must collaborate to ensure the production and use of safe and secure products.

Subsequently, the State Director of the Consumer Affairs Department, U Hla Moe Naing, explained the status of consumer protection activities undertaken during the year 2025 using a PowerPoint presentation. A video clip documenting the activities held in commemoration of World Consumer Rights Day was also shown, followed by a group photo session, it’s reported.
