To promote the cultivation and production of high-quality and high-yield millet, support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises, and assist in the production of value-added products based on millet, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) approach is being implemented. With the aim of fostering progress across the entire millet value chain, a workshop titled "Development of Value-Added Products across the Millet Value Chain" was held at the Mingalar Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on July 25.

At the workshop, Union Minister for the Ministry of Commerce U Tun Ohn delivered the opening speech. He stated that the development of sectors producing value-added millet products would create more job opportunities. He also emphasized that domestic production of these products would allow for more affordable local consumption and help reduce the importation of raw materials used in medicine and food production. He urged all attending representatives from various departments, organizations, and business owners to actively contribute ideas and engage in productive discussions to identify practical, actionable outcomes from the workshop.

During the session, seven experts from relevant ministries and organizations presented research papers and held discussions on topics such as cultivation and production of millet, production of value-added millet products, financial support for micro, small, and medium enterprises, production of livestock feed, export opportunities and challenges and opportunities in developing the millet value chain.
