A workshop titled “Comprehensive Management of Oil and Gas Production Enhancement Activities in Mature Oil Fields” was held at the Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on August 20.

The workshop was intended to support the continuous growth of oil and gas production, which in turn contributes to the country's economic development. Union Minister for Energy, U Ko Ko Lwin, delivered the opening speech and led the discussion.

In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stated that despite efforts and plans to increase oil and gas production, progress has been slow and profits have been minimal due to various difficulties and challenges. He expressed his hope that the workshop would identify solutions to overcome these obstacles.

He also urged the experts in attendance to work together to find and recommend practical and truly successful methods. Participants in the workshop included current and retired senior officials from the Ministry of Energy, professors and instructors of petroleum geology and petroleum engineering from universities under the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology, experts from the Myanmar Engineering Council and specialists from domestic and foreign oil companies collaborating on joint ventures.

They offered suggestions on how to improve oil and gas production in mature fields, each from their respective fields of expertise. Maung Htet Oo Wai Lwin, Roll No. 1, a final-year petroleum engineering student from Technological University (Thanlyin), also gave a presentation on "A Study of Enhanced Oil Recovery Methods," and attendees asked him questions. After that, the Union Minister thanked all the participants, presented them with the certificates of honor, and took a group photo.
