





A Workshop on Food Safety and Food Waste Reduction Management in the Hotel and Tourism Sector was held on February 11 at the Mingala Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw Hotel Zone.
Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, attended and delivered the opening speech, stating that this workshop represents a crucial step for the long-term sustainable development of tourism industry and provides an excellent opportunity to bridge practical knowledge regarding food safety and food waste reduction within the hotel and tourism sector with real workplace application.
He expressed his wish that all attendees would implement, practice, and share the lessons and guidelines discussed during the workshop within their respective workplaces. He affirmed that the Ministry would endeavor to implement the findings and outcomes derived from the workshop discussions.
He urged everyone to collaboratively participate in efforts to reduce food waste, thereby contributing to the creation of a sustainable tourism industry. Following this, officials from the Food and Drug Administration, and the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee presented discussions on food safety and food waste reduction management according to their relevant sectors.
Officials from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, who had undertaken overseas training in Bangkok, Thailand, on the topic "Food Waste Management in the Tourism Sector," also presented their training experiences. Subsequently, a panel discussion was held on the topic of food safety and food waste reduction management in the hotel and tourism sector.
Questions raised by attendees were clarified and answered by the responsible officials. Afterwards, Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe delivered the closing speech, providing analysis and remarks on the discussion outcomes. Commemorative gifts were presented to those who participated in the workshop discussions.
