










A work coordination meeting of the State Security and Peace Commission and Union Government was held at the commission office on Friday. Acting President, Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the meeting and made a speech.
He highlighted the over 2 billion dollar trade surplus during the five years tenure of the government, and urged all to strive for boosting agriculture and livestock production which will be beneficial to the state economy. With the increased production, the socio-economic development of people will be promoted through increased export and import substitution.
He also stressed for establishment of Agro-based Industries, especially for producing value-added products from bamboo, cotton and rubber, and also for boosting coffee production. Emphasizing the need of qualified human resources for boosting production, the Senior General called for promoting education standards of people.
He urged all to pay special attention for socio-economic development of rural communities and reduction the rate of unemployment. Concerning the upcoming election slated for December 28, the Senior General instructed for security measures and convenient arrangements to ensure a free and fair election with dignity.
He urged all the Chief Ministers of the respective regions and states to take a leading role for the success of the election. The attendees reported on the arrangements for regional peace and security, and scrutiny process for members of the political parties to be run for the election, as well as the administrative matters, and combating illegal border trade activities.
In his conclusion, the Senior General stressed the need to make effective supervision for avoiding security leakages, combating illegal trade and drug trafficking. He urged all to make strenuous efforts for socio-economic development of people, enjoying better livelihoods and reducing the gap of social status.
