






The Ayeyarwady Region Government held a work coordination meeting at its office in Pathein Township on Tuesday to discuss crop acreage and yield targets within the region.
Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung attended the meeting and made a speech. In his speech, Union Minister emphasized the impact of recent environmental changes. While the Mandalay earthquake did not directly damage farmlands, shifts in soil conditions and climate had notably reduced crop productivity.
The Union Minister urged authorities and farmers to intensify efforts to minimize harvest losses, particularly in summer paddy and other seasonal crops. He also emphasized the importance of fully planting monsoon crops and achieving the targeted production yields for the season.Emphasizing the need for timely fertilizer supply ahead of the rainy season, the Union Minister instructed all regions and states to set urea distribution quotas for the first three months.
He stressed the need to supervise rice production and export based on domestic demand. Systematic arrangements are made to prioritize the production and cultivation of local paddy strains and strengthen market share.Next, the Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win called for efficient crop harvesting using machinery, adoption of agri-tech and better crop management.
He stressed achieving target acreage for 10 major crops, boosting yields for oil sufficiency, promoting multi-cropping, advancing beekeeping and supporting private sector growth in livestock and fish farming.It was followed by the sector-wise reports on outlined progress and upcoming plans to boost agriculture and livestock-based production.
The Union Minister and Chief Minister coordinated the needs in response and urged the staff to fulfill their duties in line with the Civil Service Law for the benefit of farmers and consumers and to ensure food security.
