White Thread Tying Ceremony: SAC member attended the ceremony

The Kayin Traditional Wagaung White Thread Wrist-Tying Ceremony was held at the Ayeyar Min Hall in Kyonpyaw Township, Ayeyawady Region on July 26.

The event was attended by members of Sangha, religious leaders, State Administration Council Member Mann Nyein Maung, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win and his wife, State Administration Council Central Advisory Board Leader U Saw Tun Aung Myint, region ministers and their wives, departmental officials, and Kayin ethnic people.

The ceremony began with a Kayin traditional Don Yein dance performance by Kayin ethnic men and women. The State Administration Council Member and party officially opened the ceremony by beating the frog drum nine times. 

Following this, State Administration Council Member Mann Nyein Maung, Union Minister Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, the Regional Chief Minister, and State Administration Council Central Advisory Board Leader U Saw Tun Aung Myint delivered their welcoming remarks.

Afterward, Sayadaw U Nyana Zawti, Patron of the Kayin Literature and Culture Committee of Kyonpyaw Township and Presiding Sayadaw of Pyar Ma Lot Village Monastery, and Bishop Henry Man Aikhlein, Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Pathein, also delivered welcoming speeches. A paper on the significance of the White Thread Tying Ceremony was read, and a member of the Regional-level Wagaung Kayin Traditional White Thread Tying Ceremony Organizing Committee offered words of thanks.

Then, the elders performed the Kayin traditional white thread tying ritual for State Administration Council Member Mann Nyein Maung and the other distinguished guests, marking a grand and auspicious occasion for the Kayin traditional Wagaung White Thread Tying Ceremony.

Following the ceremony, the attendees visited and observed a collective fertilizer application and weeding ceremony for farmer U Kyaw Kyaw Oo's 5-acre farm in Sesonkone Village Tract, Yay kyi Township.

The event aimed to achieve the target yield for the Aung Naing Toe paddy strain during the 2025-2026 monsoon paddy season. The State Administration Council Member and the Region Chief Minister met with the farmers, delivered speeches, and provided food.
