The head of the World Food Program on Friday said the UN organization is preparing to deliver aid to feed up to 5 million people in Ukraine.

David Beasley told the Associated Press from Krakow, Poland, that World Food Program teams are being sent to Ukraine's borders to reach "those who can't get out, and those who are going to be needing food support immediately."

Beasley praised Polish citizens for supporting Ukrainians who have fled to their border over the past two weeks.

With the invasion in its second week, another round of talks between Russia and Ukraine yielded a tentative agreement to set up safe corridors to evacuate citizens and deliver humanitarian aid to the country.

The UN's refugee agency has said at least one million people have fled Ukraine in the seven days since Russia's invasion.
