Around 846,000 students enrolled in West Bank schools Sunday, marking the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.

They are distributed across 2,537 public and private schools, as well as schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), under the supervision of around 54,000 male and female teachers.

In Tubas Governorate, the academic year began as students continue to endure hardship at Challenge Schools, including the Challenge School in the village of Ibziq, north of Tubas. The school provides basic education to around 30 male and female students who receive their education inside mobile classrooms, or “caravans,” under conditions lacking an adequate educational environment.
