







A semi-virtual welcome address ceremony for those who have been serving as intern doctors at the teaching hospitals of medical universities since October 1, 2025, was held by the Union Minister for the Ministry of Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win at 8:30 AM, on October 23.
In his welcome address, the Union Minister for Health stated that the Ministry is immensely proud and happy for the new graduates who have been serving as intern doctors at the teaching hospitals since October 1, 2025. He mentioned that the internship period is a time to practically apply the learned medical knowledge and provide healthcare to patients.
In addition to treatment duties, he instructed them to also participate in activities such as providing health education to patients and disease prevention, aimed at improving the health standards of the entire public. While serving as intern doctors and studying their professional medical fields, they must respect and adhere to medical ethics and the rules and regulations in the intern handbook.
Furthermore, it is necessary to share experiences and collaborate with mutual respect among colleagues, who are members of the health family. Following this, the Patron of the Myanmar Medical Council, Professor Dr. Khin Maung Aye, explained matters related to medical ethics.
The ceremony was attended virtually by 302 new intern doctors from University of Medicine (1) (Yangon), 334 from University of Medicine (2) (Yangon), 281 from University of Medicine (Mandalay), 166 from University of Medicine (Magway), and 104 from University of Medicine (Taunggyi). Additionally, 53 persons attended in-person from the 1000-bed Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital, making a total of 1,240 attendees, it’s reported.
