Water Transportation: SAC Chairman inspects Dala Shipyard

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, together with the officials, visited Dala Shipyard in Yangon Region on Saturday.

Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San and officials reported on the work undertakings and future plans.

The Prime Minister discussed that the water transportation is the cheapest and could transport huge amount of goods in a fastest way.

He stressed the needs to encourage private sector for the development of water transportation system. Moreover, it also needed smooth water way, jetties and vessels with better services, passenger lounge, parking lots and warehouse.

He stressed that the Inland Water Transport needs to stand as the leading organization for local water transportation sector, and to nurture the human resources needed for development.

He added that Dala Shipyard has over 150 years experience of ship construction, and renovation works have to be carried out for building the ship meeting the changing trend.

The Prime Minister later inspected around the Shipyard, and gave instructions on maintenance works, providing equipment and operating the facility with full capacity.
