Water Supply Projects: 145 Projects Implemented In Mandalay Region

During 2022-2023 fiscal year, Department of Rural Development in Mandalay Region is implementing145water supply works.

The projects are carrying out with over 3 billion kyats budget allotments of the union and region, and it will benefit for over 100,000 people in 126 village-tracts and 131 villages with 23,511 households in the region.

70 percent of the implementation processes have been completed as of September, and it is targeted to complete within this fiscal year.

Department of Rural Development was established in 2012-2013 fiscal year, and since its establishment, the department has implementedalmost 3,000 water supply works at the needy villages. 

Kyi Saw, Regional Officer, Dept. of Rural Development (Mandalay) said “Since the establishment of the department to date, 2,808 water supply projects have been implemented in 2,785 villages. These projects have been carried out with the use of over 29 billion kyats budget allotments from the Union and the Regional Governments.”

The department is also cooperating with the international organizations in implementing the water supply projects.

Kyi Saw, Regional Officer, Dept. of Rural Development (Mandalay) said “From 2013-2014 to 2021-2022 fiscal year, a total of 322 water supply works has been implemented in 215 villages with the cooperation of the international organizations. The costs of these water supply projectsamounted to 1.851 billion kyats.”

Moreover, with the support of the World Bank, 373 water supply projects have been implemented in 637 villages with the use of over 5 billion kyats budget allotment from 2015-2016 to 2019-2020 fiscal years.
