Water-Based Fire Rescue Drill: Fire Safety Program Conducted In Magway Region

The Fire Services Department in Magway Region is undertaking fire prevention and safety measures and fire drills for lessening fire incidents in the region.

The Department conducted Water-based fire extinguishing and rescue drill on Wednesday and it was the 2nd time for public raising awareness on fire safety.

KyawKhineTun, Assistant Director, Fire Services Department, Magway said “This activity aims for the people to be aware of the fire hazards and practicing the fire drill demonstration of our team in the water to upgrade our fire safety skills.” 

According to the Director of Fire Services Department in Magway Region, the number of fire incidents caused by electricity has increased in the region and in reviewing the time of fire outbreaks, out of four, one was caused by electricity.

MyoHlaing, Director, Fire Services Department, Magway said “In accord with the progress of the region, people consume electricity. Electricity was just used in urban before and now the rural areas also consume it. So, the fire outbreaks caused by electricity have increased. We would like to urge people to be aware of the fire risk to be able to reduce fire incidents.”

Magway Region is located in the arid zone and the fire incidents caused by electricity are the most. Magway region saw 161 fire outbreaks from January to June 2021 and 70 fire incidents happened from January to June 2022. If compared to the short term, it has decreased 91 times.
