Two half-month-old leopard cat cubs have been saved by local villagers in a county of Jiamusi City, in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The villagers spotted the two young cubs and sent them to a nearby wildlife rescue center.

Veterinarians examined the newborns and decided to hand rear them until they are strong enough to be returned to the wild. The leopard cat, similar in size to the domestic cat, is also known as the "money cat" in China because the spots on its body resemble old Chinese copper coins.
