Vietnam’s three seaports rank top 50 globally

Three Vietnamese seaports are listed among the Top 50 largest container ports globally. In Lloyd’s 2023 ranking, which ranked ports by the volume of container traffic represented in a million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), Ho Chi Minh City port secured 23rd position while Hai Phong was ranked 31st and CaiMep-ThiVai port 32nd.

Viet Nam leads the ASEAN region with three ports ranked by Lloyd’s, followed by Malaysia. Most of Viet Nam’s international trade relies on sea transport. The country’s seaports can now accommodate the world’s largest tonnage vessels, attracting 40 major global shipping lines.
