Victory Flag for 31st SEA Games: 293 athletes from Myanmar will compete in 20 types of sports

A ceremony to present the victory flag to Myanmar Sports Teams who will be participate in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam was held at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and gave a speech. The Prime Minister urged the athletes to strive for winning more medals so as to promote the prestige of the country.

He said the Government is making efforts for all-round development of the nation including the sport sector. He urged all to make strenuous efforts for hoisting the country’s national flag by winning in the sports events.

The Prime Minister later presented the victory flag to Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, who later explained the preparation measures of the sports teams.

The Prime Minister also presented honorary cash assistance to the selected athletes who are going to participate in the SEA Games and the coaches.  The Prime Minister later viewed the displays of sports equipment to be used by the athletes at the competing sports events.

The 31st SEA Games is scheduled to be held in Vietnam from 12th to 23rd May. 293 athletes from Myanmar will compete in 20 types of sports, and those who grab gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded 30 million, 20 million and 10 million kyats respectively for the individual events.

For the team events, 10 million, 7 million and 3.5 million kyats will be awarded for gold, silver and bronze medals. Moreover, coaches to the medal winners will be awarded with 10 million, 5 million and 3 million kyats while the admin teams will be awarded with 10 million, 5 million and 3 million kyats.
