Venezuela records 20 aftershocks after two powerful earthquakes: presidency

Venezuela recorded 20 aftershocks after two tremors of 7.2 magnitude and 7.5 magnitude respectively caused buildings to crumble in the capital, said President Delcy Rodriguez in a televised address.

They also on Thursday declared a state of emergency following strong earthquakes, with Rodriguez announcing the closure of Maiquetia airport due to earthquake damage, and extending condolences to the families of the victims, according to media reports.
