Value-added fish product : Aiming at an increase of fisheries sector

Ayeyarwaddy Region is the main region where rice and fresh water resources are produced. The agricultural and livestock basic food production project in Pantanaw Township has been implemented since 2009 with the objectives of incorporating modern technologies for  the development of the fishery sector, building smart culture farming, converting agricultural by-products into value-added fish feed and increasing the export of aquatic products and food products and earning more foreign incomes, it is learnt. Within the project, fish conservation reserves, systematic fish breeding, hatching and feeding, food production, quick freezing of fish in addition to the production of high-value food from fish-based production by-products  and other activities are being carried out.

Currently, in one acre of land, 100 tons of fish can be bred and the survival rate of fish is up to 95%. The fish can be hatched all year round and high qualified fish with white meat, odorless and low fat content can be produced and exported to the international market.

In addition, a whole fish can be produced the value-added food products and after the project completion, Myanmar’s fisheries and economic sector will lead to an increase and there will be more exports of aquatic products and food and foreign income will be increased.
