Vacant, Fallow & Virgin Land Management: Central Committee holds the 9thcoordination meeting

Chairman of the Central Committee on Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands Union Minister U Hla Moe said that the land policies are adopted in order to effectively carry out construction tasks for the comprehensive development of economic sectors and not to affect on agricultural lands.

The agriculture and livestock tasks are being extended by effectively utilizing the vacant, fallow and vacant land. It was said by the Union Minister at the 9thcoordination meeting of Central Committee on Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands that was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation on Friday.

The Union Minister added that the animal feed required for livestock production are produced from agriculture as well as the animal waste are used as a natural fertilizer in agricultural tasks.

The concerned officials need to arrange systematically the land management to support the economic growth in the region while promoting the production of MSMEs with agricultural and livestock raw materials.

The Union Minister stressed on granting the rights to apply vacant, fallow and virgin lands systematically for these tasks.

The Central Committee on Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands has allowed more than 190,000 acres of land to be used in the agriculture, livestock and economic sectors after enacting the vacant, fallow and virgin lands management law 2012.

A total of more than 430,000 acres of vacant and virgin lands including over 230,000 acres allowed by the Region, State and Union Territory Land Management Committees have been granted permission.
