US Secretary of Defense welcomes his British counterpart at the Pentagon

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth hosted UK Secretary of State for Defence Wes Streeting for a bilateral meeting and official honor cordon at the Pentagon. This marked Streeting's first visit to Washington as UK Defence Secretary. Streeting outlined the UK’s newly released Defence Investment Plan detailing increased defense expenditure.

Hegseth encouraged the UK to accelerate and increase defense spending further to build a stronger framework ("NATO 3.0"). Both leaders reviewed the ongoing evaluation of US military posture and basing in Europe to ensure strategic alignment across the transatlantic alliance. The defense chiefs also focus security issues across key maritime choke points, including stability in the Strait of Hormuz.
