President Joe Biden arrived in Sal, Cape Verde, on Monday for a brief visit, marking the first stop of his inaugural sub-Saharan Africa trip as president.
Greeted by Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva and other officials, Biden’s visit is part of a broader effort to strengthen U.S.-Africa relations.
From Cape Verde, he continued on to Angola, where he is set to focus on economic partnerships, including a $1 billion rail corridor. This visit, which follows Biden’s recent pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, represents a significant diplomatic engagement as he nears the end of his presidency.
