A US diplomatic delegation and Colombian President-Elect Gustavo Petro on Friday met ahead of his swearing-in ceremony on August 7. Petro said officials discussed topics that "could be a new agenda with the US, a contemporary one, with the current issues and the ones that surely will be happening."

Jon Finer, Deputy National Security Advisor for the Biden Administration, said the discussions included climate change, economic development, migration, security and counter-narcotics measures. Petro has also declared to revise the current free trade agreement with the US signed a decade ago.
