US begins migration talks with Cuba

State Department Spokesman Ned Prices says the U.S. has begun migration talks with Cuba, for the first time in four years The talks come as tens of thousands of Cuban immigrants looking to escape political and economic troubles are going through more ways that risk their lives and then arrive illegally in the United States.

Ned Price, State Department Spokesman said " They represent a continuation of our nearly 30 year engagement with Cuba on migration matters as neighboring countries, as neighboring states”  U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped Cubans more than 79,800 times from October through March - more than double all of 2021 and five times more than all of 2020. ubans who cross the U.S. border illegally face little risk of being deported or expelled under a public health law that has been used to deny asylum to thousands of migrants of other nationalities on the grounds of slowing the spread of COVID-19.
