US, Armenia sign memorandum on nuclear power

The United States and Armenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation at the State Department Monday.

The memorandum aims to promote stronger ties between the U.S. and Armenia's nuclear industry, experts and researchers, and provide high-level support for civilian nuclear power and U.S. nuclear nonproliferation goals.

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken said "This is a very important vehicle by which we can continue to deepen and strengthen our relationship to pursue new areas of cooperation and collaboration”.

Armenia's foreign minister said that in addition to the MOU, the U.S. and Armenia also discussed other important issues.

This session focused on democratic reforms, justice reforms, cooperation in banking sphere, looking at ways of deepening cooperation in the sphere of defense, and prevention and fight against corruption.
