Minbu (Saku) Township has now got a new Saku Myoma market upgraded with funds and permission of the Magway Region Government and is now bustling with sellers and buyers. The upgrading process began on 5th June 2021 and was completed on 30th September 2021.

Win Naing, Deputy Director, Saku Township Development Committee said "There were no concrete roads or no drains, and the stalls and shops were not clean in the old market. Now, we’ve upgraded the market with concrete roads and drains. The shops are also built with the steel structure along with good ventilation system. Our Committee carries out cleaning works on every Sabbath Day, and place garbage bins in the market. Currently, the new Saku market is cleaner and has a good condition than the previous market did."

The old market was not convenient for sellers and buyers during the rainy season, but now it is convenient to shop after the market has been upgraded, according to buyers and sellers.

Naw Kuu Khaing, Seller said "The shop spaces were too small in the old market and we could only keep a few items. Now, they’re large and we can have more items for sale. Also, the paths were too narrow in the old market and it was not convenient for us. Now, the new market is cleaner and the paths are wide."

The Saku market upgrading process cost 600 million kyats allotted by the Magway Region Government. Currently, there are a total of 468 stall and shops including the registered ones selling clothes and many other consumer goods and those selling fish and meat.
