University Tour: SAC Chairman Visited Kazan Federal University

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and delegation members visited Kazan Federal University in Tatarstan on 13th July.

The Pro-Rector and officials welcomed the delegation and guided the tour around the university. The Pro-Rector later explained the brief history of the university, organizational set ups, subjects being conducted at the university, accommodation arrangements for the students and oversea scholar students. The Prime Minister and party later viewed around the Kazan Federal University. Founded in 1804 as Imperial Kazan University, prominent astronomer Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky served there as the rector from 1837 until 1876.

The university is known as the birthplace of organic chemistry and electron spin resonance. In 2011, Kazan University received a federal status. It is one of 18 Russian universities that were initially selected to participate in the Project 5-100, coordinated by the Government of the Russian Federation.

Priority areas are concentrated on biomedicine and pharmaceutics, oil extraction and refining, communications and aerospace technologies and social sciences. In 2020, the number of international students was over 10,000. Wife of SAC Chairman Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and party also visited the prominent places in Tatarstan.
