The ceremony for the release of the Union Report on 2024 Population and Housing Census was held on October 27 at the Myanmar International Convention Centre (MICC-1) in Nay Pyi Taw.

In his keynote address, Acting President and SSPC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stated that the report reveals the country's current demographic shifts, population situation by urban and rural areas, the educational attainment of citizens, the labor force and employment status, migration, and living patterns, which shine a spotlight on the future of Myanmar and express the daily life patterns of people.

He emphasized the importance of obtaining accurate population statistics for the country's current situation and future development. He added that the population figures from this census are also instrumental in ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the voter list, which is the most fundamental requirement for the success of the upcoming multi-party democratic general elections to be held on December 28th.

The census provides the necessary data to serve as a foundation for balanced, sectoral development in the country's social, economic, and administrative sectors. He stressed the need to formulate and adopt population policies appropriate for the country, aimed at achieving a sustainable population in harmony with land, water, and natural resources, and to prepare for a generation in advance.

He concluded by stating that it is crucial to use the 2024 Census Report effectively as a roadmap for policy formulation for the development of the nation. Following this, U Myint Kyaing, Union Minister for Immigration and Population, briefly clarified the census results and a documentary video titled "2024 Census: Reflecting the Image of Myanmar," detailing the census operations, was screened.

It’s also reported that the Acting President and SSPC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing along with the attendees of the ceremony, took a keen interest in touring the exhibition displaying items related to the release of the Union Report on 2024 Population and Housing Census, viewing each exhibit.
