UK PM announces relaunch of free trade talks with India

On the sidelines of the G20 summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met leaders of France, UK, Norway, Italy, Portugal and Indonesia. In a key meeting with UK counterpart Keir Starmer, PM Modi underlined the importance of resuming the Free Trade Agreement negotiations at an early date.

In his side, Starmer announced that trade talks with India will relaunch in the new year. Starmer highlighted India’s status as the fifth-largest economy and a crucial trading partner for the UK. He further expressed a strong commitment to negotiate a trade agreement that benefits both nations.
