UIT Reopen: 2022-23 Academic Year Fresher Welcome held

The 2022-23 academic year of University of Information Technology (UIT) opened on 12th May and fresher welcome ceremony was held in theater of UIT. The professors of relevant departments gave the opening speech and the students & their parents attended the ceremony.   

Normally, the University of Information Technology accepts 200 students yearly and 202 students have been admitted this academic year. 

Officer, Students Affairs Department(UIT) said "UIT accepts 200 students yearly and 202 students have been admitted this year. This year’s admission score is at minimum of 485 marks and the enrollment is 50% from the date of accepting enrollment until today."

Also University of Information and Technology have language department which is divided into two sections, Myanmar and English. 

Dr. Tin Oo ( Professor), Head of Department, Department of Languages- Myanmar said "Literature and words are always together and if words are lost, literature will disappear. To prevent from this happening, we must preserve our Myanmar language seriously today as well as students must be taught Myanmar language to their heart. On the other hand, there is a lot of obstacles on-line and on the ground. We are warmly welcome to the students who join to the University for their live, families and environment without fear or hesitation in this situation. Also it’s so much thankful to the parents who brought their children here."

UIT was established as the University of Computer Studies (Bahan Campus) in 2012 and it was renamed the University of Information Technology (Yangon) on 15th January, 2015 as a separate university. 

Dr. Khin Moh Moh Tun,  Pro-Rector, Teaching & Research said "At UIT, Software Engineering, Knowledge Engineering, Business information systems, High performance computing, Embedded systems, Communication and networking, Cyber security are lectured for bachelor and master degrees as well as Web and Network Engineering major as a diploma. In addition, we also offer PhD (IT) Information technology as 3 years course. Also our university is international co-educational university."

The University of Information technology (UIT) aims to develop Myanmar’s ICT sector and turn out more IT professionals in the future.
