

A Ugandan school was a beehive of activity on Monday as parents rushed to return their children back to class, almost two years after the government shut down learning institutions to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Uganda's schools have been fully or partially shut for more than 83 weeks, the world's longest disruption. The shutdown affected more than 10 million learners. in March 2020, the East African country of 44 million people first shut down its schools, shortly after the first coronavirus case was confirmed on the African continent.
