The Union Election Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar issued a Notification No. (134/2025) on October 15, 2025, concerning election rallies, political speeches, and campaigning.
According to the notification, candidates for parliamentary representatives whether First-Past-the-Post candidates representing political parties, Proportional Representation candidates, or independent parliamentary candidates, whose names have been submitted to contest in the respective constituencies of each Hluttaw and have been scrutinized and confirmed by the respective Sub-Commission in accordance with the Hluttaw Election Law and its by-laws, must adhere to the provisions for ensuring lawful freedom and fairness when conducting campaigns for election victory.
The relevant provisions on election rallies, political speeches, and campaigning are already stipulated in Section 30(a) of the Hluttaw Election Law and Chapter (10) of the Hluttaw Election By-Law. Candidates and political parties contesting in the General Election starting on December 28, 2025, are to conduct election rallies, political speeches, and campaigning in accordance with the provisions in the relevant Hluttaw Election By-Laws, to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.
The Union Election Commission has announced that the campaign period for the General Election starting on December 28, 2025, is permitted for 60 days (from 06:00 hours on October 28, 2025, until 12:00 midnight on December 26, 2025). The notification was signed by the UEC Chairman U Than Soe.
