The Union Election Commission (UEC) has announced the designated constituencies for the 2025 multi-party democratic general election, with four separate notifications issued on Friday.
Under Notification No. (50/2025), the UEC announced Pyithu Hluttaw constituencies, Notification No. (51/2025) for Amyotha Hluttaw constituencies, Notification No. (52/2025) for Region/ State Hluttaw constituencies and Notification No. (53/2025) for Ethnic constituencies in Region / State Hluttaws.
According to the announcements, the constituencies for each Hluttaw in the upcoming election include 330 constituencies for Pyithu Hluttaw, using the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) system. For Amyotha Hluttaw which will use the Mixed-Member Proportional (MMP) system, there will be 84 FPTP constituencies, and 26 Proportional Representation (PR) constituencies, altogether 110 constituencies.
Region/ State Hluttaws will also use the MMP system, with 322 FPTP constituencies and 42 PR constituencies, totaling 364 constituencies. For Ethnic constituencies in Region/ State Hluttaws, there will be 29 constituencies. The detailed lists of areas included in each constituency and their respective Hluttaws will be published in daily newspapers and made available on the UEC’s official website: www.uec.gov.mm.
