Trump says US reaches agreement with Denmark, Greenland

On September 19, U.S. President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that the United States had entered into an "Infinite Life" agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark and Greenland regarding the island's defense, security, and strategic footprint.

Trump stated that the deal gives the United States indefinite and "permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland" to defend both the territory and the U.S. continent. The agreement explicitly prohibits non-NATO nations from establishing military bases, deploying troops, or making sensitive investments in critical sectors on the island without express written approval from Washington.
