An artist in Brazil has suspended clothed, hooded mannequins over a path outside a Sao Paulo cultural centre, saying he named the work "Rebirth" to emphasise the need for "renewal" two years into the pandemic.  The artist said that it was a time for reflection and for solidarity.

His work consists of 365 mannequins of different sizes and volumes suspended by a steel cable, six meters above the ground, representing those who died of COVID-19.   Brazil has begun experiencing a new surge in COVID-19 cases. On Thursday the health ministry said that the highly transmissible omicron variant has become the dominant strain in the country.
